It found the right recipe last year, so Hartman Arena is putting on another installment of the Air Capital Bacon and Beer Festival. The event will return from 4 to 7 p.m. April 29 and will again include samples of more than 75 varieties of beer, bacon-themed dishes and more.

This will actually be the third time the arena is attempting a bacon event. In 2015, it offered only bacon, and people came in droves. Last year, it added craft beer to the mix and hired a professional festival firm to organize the festival.

The event also will include a mechanical pig, a bacon-eating contest and live entertainment. Those who pay extra can get in an hour early and have access to a bloody Mary bar and a BLT bar.

The restaurants that have already signed up to participate are Cero's Candies, Chris Cakes of Wichita, Jimmy's Egg, Nancy's A-Maize-ing Sandwiches, Red Robin and Sweetly Scrumptious. The list of breweries includes Boulevard Brewing, Central Standard Brewing, Defiance Brewing, Hopping Gnome Brewing Co., Kansas Territory Brewing, Marshall Brewing Co., Prairie Artisan Ales, River City Brewing Co., Tallgrass Brewing Co., Walnut River Brewing Company and Wichita Brewing Co.

Tickets are $30 in advance at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. They’re $35 the day of the event. VIP tickets will be $65 and will be available soon. For more information, visit BaconandBeerFestivals.com.
