Wichita is about to get another beer festival.
The Wichita Craft Beer Guild — whose members include all local brewers, several bar owners, liquor store folks and some distributors — are putting on a new craft beer event called WichCraft on May 16.
It will be outdoors downtown on the Hyatt Regency Wichita lawn, organizers said, and it will also include a food truck rally.
The fine details of the festival, including ticket prices and a time-frame, are still being worked out, said Brian White, one of the organizers, but it will be in the afternoon.

WichCraft will be an educational festival, he said, and will include seminars on home brewing, beer and food pairings, and beer identification. Attendees also will be able to sample local, state, regional and national craft beers.
The idea for the festival came up, White said, when members of the group decided they would like to see the annual Midwest Beerfest in the fall be more craft beer focused.
The group worked with Midwest Beerfest organizers and made changes that kept both sides happy. But they also decided they would like to put on their own event.
“The idea came about when we just started to ask ourselves, ‘Is there room in Wichita for another beer festival? And what would we as beer fans want that festival to be?’ ” White said.
The festival will probably have around 1,200 to 1,500 tickets for sale, both online and the day of the event, White said. More details will be released as it gets closer.
