1. Toubia Italian: Nathan Toubia, owner of Bocco Deli at 3010 E. Central and son of late Latour founder Antoine Toubia, plans to open an Italian restaurant in the former Sugar Sisters Bakery & Cafe building at 3010 E. Central. In the meantime, he's shortened the hours at Bocco Deli, which now are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Keeping abreast of Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks, a new bar and grill that opened this week in the Timberline spot at 8310 E. 21st St., joins Hooters and Emerson Biggin's on Wichita's growing list of double-entendre, male-focused, scantily-clad-waitress restaurants. Its specialties (besides waitresses in short-shorts and chest-baring crop tops) are dishes such as chicken-fried steak, burgers and sandwiches. Entrees average $11 or $12. The restaurant will open from 5 p.m. to midnight today until Monday, when its regular hours will take over: 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
Judgment in Wichita
The American Institute of Wine and Food's Wichita Chapter is putting on a $55-a-person wine tasting event that will be paired with a movie. The group will show "Bottle Shock," a 2008 film about the 1976 "Judgment of Paris" blind wine tasting, which pitted French wines against California wines. The event will be at 6:30 p.m. on May 28 at the Orpheum, 200 N. Broadway. Reservations are due by noon Thursday by calling 316-682-5502. The film's director and producer, Randall Miller, and his wife will be at the event.
Gaslamp Grille & Lounge at 550 N. Rock Road started offering lunch on Monday, with hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. It includes upscale appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers and pastas. Appetizers average about $8, salads are $12-ish, and the sandwich/burger/pasta dishes range from $9 to $12.
