Restaurant News & Reviews

Three BITS OF MEDITERRANEAN NEWS

1. Adrian's, the Mediterranean restaurant at 2121N. Rock Road, has added Sunday hours, when it's now open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. serving the regular menu plus a few breakfast items and $4 mimosas.

2. Mediterranean Grill at 335 S. Towne East Mall Drive has added several new menu items and drink specials, including a lamb burger, a tuna kebab, chicken and shrimp au poivre and half-price bottles of wine on Thursdays.

3. Mediterraneo, the Mediterranean restaurant that's operated for the past seven months at 505 S. Webb Road (in the former Italian Garden spot) has closed.

A GOOD DEAL

Raise a red spoon. It's the 25th anniversary of The Blizzard , that fabulous, whirred, fruit-and-candy-filled ice cream treat invented by Dairy Queen. To celebrate, local stores are offering a buy-one-get-one-for-a-quarter sale on Blizzards. The offer is good through Sunday.

QUICK BITES

Foodies for Wichita

Wichita was recently named among the "10 most surprising food cities" by the editors of Livability.com, who chose the top 10 from a list of America's 200 most livable cities. Other foodie towns on the list included Boulder, Colo., Kansas City, Mo., and Traverse City, Mich. Among the Wichita restaurants singled out in the article — The Beacon, Chester's Chophouse, Bella Luna, Jack's Coffee Shop, Pho Hot and Da Nang. One minor bummer — the just-released article was clearly reported more than a year ago, as it also cites the now-closed Bella Donna and Piztros as among Wichita's best restaurants, and it calls Harvest Kitchen in the Hyatt by its former name — Southwinds.

Get moving

Hot dog restaurant Get Franked is moving across the street to 2322 E. Douglas. The restaurant will shut down its current location on May 8, and owners hope to open in the new spot in early June.
