Three fabulous restaurant meat loaves

This weekend's Loaf Off fundraiser at The Anchor brings to mind several tasty meat loaf dishes in local restaurants. Among them:

1. Ted's Montana Grill: 3121 N. Webb Road and 2142 N. Tyler Road: The super-moist meat loaf at Ted's is made with 100 percent bison meat and served with sumptuous down-home sides like garlic mashed potatoes and squash casserole.

2. Redrock Canyon Grill, 1844 N. Rock Road: Redrock's fancy Persimmon Hill meat loaf is made out of a spicy ground tenderloin, pork sausage and mixed cheeses then slow-cooked and topped with a fire-roasted tomato brown sauce and served with redskin mashed potatoes and sweet glazed carrots.

3. Hereford House, 1400 Terradyne Drive, Andover: It serves meat loaf only at lunch, but Hereford House's is moist and topped with a deliciously smoky ketchup.


Applebee's restaurants now are open until midnight Mondays through Saturdays and offer select half-price appetizers from 9 p.m. to midnight, including onion rings, buffalo chicken wings, nachos and more.


Broadway Vietnamese

Little Saigon is a new Vietnamese restaurant that just opened down the street from the classic Saigon, but the two restaurants are not related. Little Saigon at 1015 N. Broadway was opened by Michael and Kim Santana and features all the dishes Wichitans are accustomed to in local Vietnamese restaurants — from pho to vermicelli noodle dishes — plus a few Chinese and Thai dishes. It's open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, call 316-265-0054.

Concert and a sammich

Hoping to catch some arena traffic on event nights, the Quiznos downtown at Douglas and Main has extended its evening hours. The new hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
