A few purveyors of holiday desserts

1. Watermark: The book store's cafe is selling a long list of sweet treats that hosts could pass off as their own. Among the choices — a pumpkin roll, gingerbread roll (both $30) maple pumpkin cheesecake and mint cheesecake (both $34.99), a Yule log ($30) and more. 2. Spear's Restaurant & Pie Shop, 4323 Maple, 316-943-2783. The restaurant is a popular pie purveyor during the holidays and sells whole pies out of the store. Pumpkin, pecan and French silk are the most popular holiday flavors, and the deep-dish pies range in price from $9.35 to $10.45. Spear's pies also will be available in QuikTrip stores four days before Christmas.

Diners who bring a nonperishable food item to Pei Wei Asian Diner , 2441 N. Maize Road, on Wednesday will get 25 percent off one entree. The food collected will be donated to a local food bank.

Restaurant eviction

The Olive Tree Bistro and Chelsea's Bar and Grill is being evicted from its space at 2949 N. Rock Road and will be closed by the end of the month, owners say. The restaurants, owned by Latour Management, have operated from the space since 1987. Owners hope to eventually reopen the restaurants elsewhere.

Moderne brunch

Caffe Moderne, the popular panini and gelato restaurant at 300 N. Mead, Suite 108, is entering the Wichita brunch buffet fray starting on Sunday. The buffet, served from 11 to 2, will cost $13.95 for adults and $6.95 for children and will include pasta stations, omelet stations, soups, quiche, bruschetta, smoked salmon, a salad bar and more. The restaurant also has started serving breakfast items daily, starting at 7 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. For more information, call 316-260-1199.

Timberline has just introduced a new value menu that offers slightly smaller portions at lower prices. It includes nine items that are under $9.99, including a half-pound chopped steak, coconut shrimp, slow smoked brisket and more. The regular menu also features 12 items under $9.99.
