Dining briefs

1. Barbacoa burrito: Julie Sisk from the restaurant at 47th Street South and Broadway in Wichita came up with this recipe, which features pulled pork, adobo barbecue sauce and Monterey jack cheese topped with a tomatillo sauce.

2. Mole enchiladas: A cook from Des Moines created this dish, which consists of two enchiladas filled with spiced chicken and topped with mole rojo sauce.

3. Chorizo burrito: This super giant burrito is made of a flour tortilla stuffed with chorizo (a Mexican sausage) and diced potatoes with peppers and onions and topped with a red sauce. It was created by an employee from Lincoln, Neb.

4. Cheesecake empanadas: A Sioux City, Iowa, cook created this dessert, made out of cheesecake-filled pastry dough that is deep-fried and arranged around a scoop of vanilla ice cream served in a tortilla bowl.

Jimmy's fourth Egg

A new Jimmy's Egg —the fourth location in Wichita — opened Monday at 220 S. West St. The other three Jimmy's Eggs, which serve breakfast and lunch daily, are at 7777 E. 21st St., 7906 E. Harry St. and 8728 W. Central.

El Dorado 'cue

An El Dorado barbecue restaurant called Oklahoma Boys BBQ was featured last week on the show "Live! With Regis & Kelly." The show was conducting an "Ultimate Hometown Grill-off" contest, and Oklahoma Boys' pulled pork not only was nominated but made it to the list of five finalists. The restaurant did not win, alas, but its pulled pork (plus ribs, brisket and more) are available daily at 626 N. Main in El Dorado. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 316- 452-5535.
