Popular local cover band Monterey Jack , known for its '80s set list, will perform at 9:30 p.m. today under the stars at the Brickyard, the popular open-air bar at 125 N. Rock Island. Admission is free.
Burgers and blues
The Brickyard also will be the site on Sunday of a show featuring several of the bands that will appear at Hartman Arena's Blues, Brews & BBQ event on July 25. Sunday's show is called Burgers and Blues at the Brickyard and will feature the Howlers, Porterhouse and Josh Vowell and the Rumble. One attendee will win two tickets to the Hartman Arena show. Admission is $5, and burgers or a brisket sandwich and a side are $6. The event is from 5 to 9 p.m.

Drowning Pool, known for the current hit "Feel Like I Do," is among many bands that will perform at Lake Afton as part of the Midwest Rockfest, scheduled for Thursday through July 24. Buckcherry also will play on Thursday, and the acts on July 23 will include Styx and Nelson. Twisted Sister, Winger and Kix will perform on July 24.
