Mudbugs sendoff

The Mudbugs Cajun & Zydeco band, a group of seven performers from Wichita and Wellington, was recently among five bands chosen from a pool of more than 700 submissions to appear on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion's" 2010 Battle of the Bands. Not only will the group play live on the radio show at 5 p.m. on April 17 (on KMUW-FM, 89.1), but it will perform a sendoff show Sunday at Heroes, 117 N. Mosley in Old Town. The show is from 5 to 7 p.m., and all ages are welcome. Admission is free.

Puddle of Mudd at Cotillion

Rock band Puddle of Mudd — known for hits such as "Blurry," "She Hates Me," "Control," "Psycho" and "Spaceship," will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg, with opening band Saliva. Tickets are $22.50 in advance at Select-A-Seat outlets or $25 the day of the show. Doors open at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.thecotillion.com.

Marcy Playground at America's Pub

The band Marcy Playground, known for its 1997 hit "Sex and Candy," will perform on Thursday at America's Pub. The show is at 8 p.m., and doors open at 7. Tickets are $15 at Select-A-Seat outlets, by calling 316-755-SEAT or at www.selectaseat.com. You must be 21 or older to attend.
