Blues Ball time

The 12th Annual Blues Ball on Saturday will feature Blues Master, a band that includes Berry Harris, Ray Drew, Henry Walker, Rudy Love, D.D. Dunn and Mr. Lee, Big Clyde Sheely and Rib Bone. The show, which is at the Cotillion, 11120 W. Kellogg, also will feature performances by Blues Challenge winners Rachelle Coba and Jimmy Lewin & The Kingtones.

Tickets are $12 in advance at Select-A-Seat outlets or $15 at the door. They're $12 at the door for Wichita Blues Society members.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show is at 8.

Moddelmog, Mudbugs and more

The Kansas Acoustic Arts Association will start its Winter Concert Series on Thursday and will continue it the third Thursdays of February and March at the Louise Murdock Theatre, 536 N. Broadway.

Thursday's show will feature Nikki Moddelmog and friends with special guests Amanda Lind and Jennifer Pettersen. February's show will feature Ann Zimmerman and Stumpwater, and in March the featured act is The Mudbugs Cajun and Zydeco Band and Medicine River Boys.

The shows are from 7 to 9 p.m.; doors open at 6. Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, call 316-640-4226.

Smoking martinis

Thursdays are martini night at Clifton Wine and Jazz, 3700 E. Douglas. The bar features its martinis — including its famous smoking martinis in flavors such as apple, lemon and cosmopolitan — for $5 apiece. The special is offered from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, call 316-686-5299.
