The Wichita Public Library will once again put on free screenings of the Academy Award-nominated short subject films. This will be the 30th year for the screenings, which will happen from Feb. 20 to 25 at various library branches, the Orpheum Theatre and the westside Warren Theatre.
Since 1986, the library has shown the short films nominated in the animated, live action and documentary categories. All of the films are 40 minutes or fewer. They’re not rated and may not be appropriate for all ages.
All of the films will be shown starting at 10 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Orpheum, 200 N. Broadway, and at 10 a.m. Feb. 27 at the Warren Theatre, 9150 W. 21st St.
Just the documentaries will be shown starting at 10 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Central branch, 223 S. Main, and at 1 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Rockwell Library, 5959 E. Ninth.

The live-action and animated films will be shown starting at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Alford branch, 3447 S. Meridian; at 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Westlink branch, 8515 Bekemeyer; at 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Central branch, 223 S. Main; and at 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Evergreen branch, 2601 N. Arkansas.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to the screenings. Seats are first-come, first-served.
