Job loss leaves woman struggling

Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

She finally got a job in August, after losing her job in May 2009 and exhausting her unemployment payments.

Now she is struggling to catch up on her bills.

“I just can’t seem to climb out of this hole I’m in right now,” she said.

She is the single mother of one daughter and is seeking custody of a nephew in foster care. She contacted Share the Season after reading about the program in The Eagle.

Her paycheck is being garnished for old unpaid bills.

“Almost 50 percent of my wages are lost in the fees. I hardly have anything left after that,” she said.

Share the Season recently notified her that it will cover her car payment, electric bill and one medical bill.

“This would really help,” she said. “If I can get the garnishment paid off, I can take care of other bills and focus on more important things in my life.”

She is grateful for any help she receives.

“I just need to get out of this hole,” she repeated. “Thanks so much for everyone who helps out in this program.”
