Four interesting Final Friday options

1. Buddhist open house: The Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist Center at 721 W. 13th St. is planning an open house for people interested in learning more about Buddhism. Visitors can see the meditation room, view Buddhist statues and enjoy vegetarian refreshments. 2. Art for Woofstock: Artworks Gallery at Piccadilly Square, 7724 E. Central, will feature "Art for Woofstock," a sneak peak to the dog-themed art that will be auctioned off at the October event. Included in the event will be the works of Stan Baden, John Boyd, Diane Lincoln, Gary Lincoln, Kevin Mullins, Ann Resnick, Dale Strattman, Emily Brookover, Bruce VanOsdel and Trish VanOsdel. The event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

3. Workings of an Idle Mind: The Jones Gallery @ PositiveDirections, 414 S. Commerce, will feature recent works by photographer Bill Pearce during its Final Friday reception, which is from 7 to 10 p.m.

4. "Gateway to Gutai": Artist Clint Metcalf, who grew up in Wichita during the late 1980s, got his artistic start at Southeast High and was a regular on the punk scene in those days, will display his abstract expressionist pieces at an opening reception at Tangent Lab, 143 N. Rock Island, starting at 7 p.m.
