The podcast “Serial,” which became far and away the world’s most listened to podcast in 2014, announced that it will release season two this fall and season three in spring 2016.

The first season investigated the murder of a high school girl in Maryland in 1999 and became a breakout hit in the U.S. and most other English-speaking countries, drawing millions of listeners. The show was the first viral podcast and brought new attention to the medium of podcasting – free, on-demand radio programs that can be downloaded – as a way to draw mass audiences to radio content over the Internet.

No details have yet been released about the subjects of the new seasons, other than that they will be very different than the original season. Although the investigation of the first season is over, the man convicted of murder in the case, Adnan Syed, continues to seek new court appeals.
