Labor Days means honoring workers across the country and honoring yourself with a much deserved Monday off.

If your long weekend isn’t already booked with family barbecues and poolside parties, here are a few more events to consider.

Labor Day Weekend Party at Playa Azul, 111 N. Washington

Kick off the long weekend with a Latin Friday dance party from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Playa Azul. DJ Cez will play music for Salsa, Bachata, Merengue and more. There will also be a Tony Dize ticket giveaway. Drink specials include $2.25 lime margaritas. 21 to enter. $5 cover, ladies free before 11 p.m.

Labor Day Hogs and Dogs, 1201 E. Central

Bikers Edge of Wichita welcomes Wichitans to check out motorcycles, grab a free hot dog and hang out from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Grilling will start around 10 a.m.and Stellar Bartending will be on site selling huckleberry vodka lemonades and $2 beer. The Polaris Slingshot, a three-wheeled sport vehicle that goes 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds, will be available to schedule for free test drives. Call 316-267-6677 to register for a ride.

Labor Day Picnic at Colonial Heights Assembly of God, 5200 S. Broadway

Bring the family out for food trucks and inflatables at 11:45 a.m. Sunday following Colonial Heights’ morning service. There will also be an egg and water balloon toss, volleyball and indoor games. Admission is free.

Labor Day Weekend Cookout at Wichita First Church of Nazarene, 1400 E. Kellogg

Why grill your own burgers when you can take the family out from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday and chow down for free? The Wichita First Church of Nazarene will have burgers, chips and drinks available at its community cookout. Admission is free.

Labor Day Party at Barleycorn’s, 608 E. Douglas

There’s no better way to celebrate not having to work Monday than by going out Sunday night. Barleycorn’s will have four DJ’s playing a range of music from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday. There will be giveaways from local clothing company, Bad News Co., and $2 Rolling Rock, $4 Kamikazes and $5 Vegas bombs. 21 to enter. Admission is free before 10 p.m., $5 before 11 p.m. and $7 after 11 p.m.

Labor Day Hurray at 86 Cold Press, 612 E. Douglas

Little Lion Ice Cream and 86 Cold Press will open up shop from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to help Wichita celebrate Labor Day. Waffles and ice cream will be available for purchase from Little Lion outside of the 86 Cold Press Store. Inside, they’ll be selling natural juice blends including buy-one, get-one half off Summer Delights, a blend of watermelon, cucumber and mint.

Labor Day Zumba Party at McAdams Recreation Center, 1329 E. 16th St.

People of all fitness levels are invited to join Denise Colborn Fitness for a holiday workout party from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday. There will be a hip-hop step class from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and a Zumba class from 11 a.m. to noon. Ages 8 and up are welcome and children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $4.

Fireworks at the Lake, Cheney Reservoir

The Ninnescah Sailing Association has been ending the summer with fireworks since 1995, when a flood ruined the club’s Fourth of July show. Fireworks begin around sunset, about 8 p.m., Sunday near the club’s facilities on the west side of the lake about 30 miles west of Wichita. The show is free, but the state park charges a $5 per vehicle admission fee.

Kwik Shop Dollar Days at the Wingnuts, 300 S. Sycamore St.

General admission tickets to the Wichita Wingnuts games are $1 on Mondays with a voucher available at Kwik Shops. Some concessions and novelty items also are $1. The game against the Salina Stockade starts at 2 p.m. Monday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, 300 S. Sycamore St.
