Plenty to do for the holidays: light displays, concerts and more

Many holiday events are long-standing Wichita traditions, a few of which have changes in store this year. Check out today’s guide for specific details about these and other events, including several that take place this week.

Botanica is making its Illuminations event bigger and brighter this year with the addition of 700,000 lights. To showcase these lights and allow more people to visit, organizers also will extend the event to stretch from Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, closing only on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Goodwill’s Festival of Trees at Century II also is expanding its hours to allow for more public viewing. The public can browse and purchase decorated trees Dec. 3 and Dec. 4, as opposed to only one day of viewing. There also will be extended children’s activities and smaller trees sized more suitably for offices or smaller spaces.
