Music Theatre of Wichita's third show of the season is "Crazy for You," and it continues through Sunday at Century II. Here's what you should know about it:
1) "Crazy for You" won Tony Awards for best musical and best choreography in 1992 as well as Olivier Awards in the same two categories in London. This is the second time Music Theatre of Wichita has performed it; the first was in 1996.
2) The Gershwin-flavored musical features more than 20 favorites, including "Embraceable You," "I Got Rhythm," "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "But Not for Me," "Nice Work If You Can Get It" and "Stairway to Paradise."
3) The story centers around Bobby Child , a carefree son of a New York banking family who would rather sing and dance on stage than join the stodgy family business. When he goes to Nevada on business, he falls for Polly, the daughter of the theater he is supposed to foreclose.
4) Performances of "Crazy For You" will be at 8 p.m. today, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $18 to $47 for matinees and $20 to $55 for evening. For more information, call 316-265-3107 or go online at www.mtwichita.org.
Singer-songwriter Pat Benatar will sign copies of her book "Between a Heart and a Rock Place" from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Watermark Books, 4701 E. Douglas. Benatar will be in Wichita to perform that night at Intrust Bank Arena. A stamped Watermark receipt for the book is your ticket to stand in line for the signing. The event is free.
