Branson, Mo., will expand its musical offerings when hip-hop artist and rapper Nelly performs at an open-air concert on Aug. 21.
The concert will be part of the reopening of the Grand Palace, which has been closed for renovations. Nelly, a native of St. Louis, will perform in the venue's parking lot because of construction inside the building.
Paul Dunn, Grand Palace manager, says Nelly's show will be the first hip-hop concert in Branson. Dunn told KSPR-TV that he plans to bring a variety of new artists to the resort town, generally known for its country, bluegrass and gospel shows.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., is a Grammy Award winner who has had hits such as "Country Grammar," "Dilemma" and "Hot in Here."

Crowds force 'Diddy' concert cancellation
Rowdy crowds waiting in line for a July Fourth pool party featuring Sean "Diddy" Combs forced the event to be shut down before the rap and fashion mogul had a chance to enter.
Police shut down the party early Monday, forcing some 1,800 guests out of the Harrah's Resort Atlantic City nightclub known as The Pool.
On his Twitter feed, Diddy wrote: "The party was so crazy I couldn't even get in! 10 thousand people showed up. ... I was ready to party!"
Casino staff said that the crowd was not nearly that large but that they decided to cancel the event in the name of safety.
The trouble began around 12:30 a.m. when an estimated 500 people in line tried to force their way in, authorities said. One man was arrested and charged with obstructing the administration of law and resisting arrest. No injuries were reported.
BBC: Michael arrested after crash
British media reports say George Michael has been arrested after a car crash in London.
The BBC says the 47-year-old singer was arrested Sunday after police responded to reports that a car had crashed into a building in Hampstead, an upscale residential area in north London.
Metropolitan police say only that they arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of being unfit to drive.
They say the man was taken to a police station and released on bail pending further inquiries.
The singer's publicists in London declined comment Tuesday.
