An eclectic mix of art will be on display beginning today at the Wichita Center for the Arts. Here are the details:
1) The show opening today is the annual Student/Faculty Exhibition. All pieces in the show, which will be up through Aug. 29, have been made at the center's Mary R. Koch School of Visual Arts.
2) Hundreds of works will be on display, including paintings, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, and photography . The exhibition showcases the talents of students and faculty of all ages and skill levels, and features the varied mediums taught at the center.
3) The exhibition provides an opportunity for the artists to exhibit and sell their work in a formal gallery setting. Among the faculty members showing their work will be Brian Hinkle, Mary Binford Miller and John McCluggage.
4) An opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today. During the reception, 12 awards will be given in various student categories. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available.
Hours for the gallery at Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central, are 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission is free. For more information, call 316-634-2787.
