Two children and two years later, Jennifer Lopez has resurfaced with a "Back-up Plan."
"This movie is about a woman who gets to a point in her life," Lopez says. "She's successful. ... But, at the same time, she hasn't found that person to share her life with and to have a family with, and so she decides to do it on her own. She decides to have a baby on her own."
The film, opening Friday, is part of the mid-life movie genre that has served actresses well of late, including such blockbusters as "The Proposal" and "It's Complicated," starring Sandra Bullock , 45, and Meryl Streep , 60, respectively. "The Back-up Plan" marks Lopez's first film since turning 40 last July.
"It is a great time to be an actress," Lopez said at a recent convention of theater owners in Las Vegas. "It seems like you can work and do anything at any age."
In addition to making a movie and caring for her children, twins Emme and Maximilian, born in February 2008 (with musician-husband Marc Anthony ), Lopez continues to run her empire, which also includes a fragrance line, clothing and music.
Biden on 'The View'
Vice President Joe Biden is facing the ladies of "The View" this week. The talk show announced Monday that Biden will be its featured guest on Thursday's show.
Executive producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie say it's part of the program's ongoing "Red, White and View" series of political discussions. They often get heated, with the show's most conservative host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck , outnumbered.
Biden last appeared on ABC's "The View" in 2007 while promoting his book about his life in politics.
From chest to desk?
Sharon Osbourne says she's having her breast implants removed this summer and will give them to her husband, rocker Ozzy Osbourne , as a paperweight.
The 57-year-old reality TV star says the implants will be better on Ozzy's desk "than on my chest 'cause they're awful."
She confirmed reports of her plans to do so during an appearance Monday on the "Today" show.
Osbourne is competing on NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice."
