Jay-Z, Alicia Keys to kick off World Series

The New York Yankees have been blasting Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" during their playoff run. Now, the team is having the rap king perform the song live to kick off Game 1 of the World Series.

Jay-Z and fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys are set to perform the hit on Wednesday, as the Yankees take on the defending World Series champs, the Philadelphia Phillies.

In an interview Monday, Jay-Z was excited about the performance and said: "Thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee."

He calls the opportunity a "once in a lifetime experience."

Gervais to host Golden Globes

He's provided memorable moments on the Golden Globe awards in the past — and this year Ricky Gervais will have the chance to do so again. The British comedian will host the 67th Annual Golden Globes on Jan. 17, People magazine has confirmed.

"Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry, which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free rein as a host," Gervais said Monday. "I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don't turn down."

This marks the first time that the telecast has had a host since 1995.

A four-time Emmy winner, Gervais, 48, has also won three Golden Globes. In 2008, his HBO show "Extras" was named best television comedy.

The daughter of Donald and Ivana Trump married Jared Kushner at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., on Sunday. The Orthodox Rabbi Haskel Lookstein performed the ceremony.

Trump, 27, is the co-host of "Celebrity Apprentice," is a vice president at her father's real estate company and has a jewelry company.

The 28-year-old Kushner is publisher of the New York Observer and an executive at the Kushner Cos., which owns and manages commercial real estate and apartments. His father was a prominent Democratic political donor who pleaded guilty to campaign and tax law violations.
