Marriage came as a surprise to Johansson

There were plenty of people surprised by Scarlett Johansson's remote Canadian wedding to Ryan Reynolds last September — and you can count Scarlett among them.

"I never really thought about getting married — it just kind of happened," the actress, 25, tells Glamour for its November issue, hitting newsstands Oct. 6. "It seemed natural, the right thing to do. It was kind of a celebration of the time."

But Johansson says she likes the feeling, even if she doesn't feel all that different. "I think the only difference is that I'm kind of making my own little family now, which is funny," she says. "It's like a little bit of a tribe. You hope that a relationship makes you better, that you learn things about yourself."

Just Kate, plus eight

"Jon & Kate Plus 8" will soon be simply "Kate Plus Eight."

That's the word from the TLC network, which announced Tuesday that its hit reality show is adapting to changes in the Gosselin household, which has been disrupted by the split up of Kate and Jon .

The renamed "Kate Plus Eight," which begins Nov. 2, will continue to chronicle the lives of the Gosselin kids (5-year-old sextuplets and 8-year-old twins) but will also focus on Kate's role as a single mother.

Chess set sells at Bergman auction

A chipped and incomplete chess set believed to have featured in one of Ingmar Bergman's best known films fetched one of the highest bids at a special auction for the late director's belongings, auction house officials said Tuesday.

The set sold for 1 million kronor ($142,000), said Charlotte Bergstrom, a spokeswoman at Bukowskis in Stockholm. It is missing a white king and is believed to have been used in "The Seventh Seal."

"In one part of the film, Max von Sydow sweeps his mantle over the table and the (chess) pieces fall to the ground and you can see that the white king breaks into pieces," Bergstrom said.

Guarini marries

Former "American Idol" runner-up Justin Guarini has tied the knot. Guarini's spokesman, Jeff Ballard, said the 30-year-old first-season "Idol" runner-up married 27-year-old Reina Capodici at a private estate Saturday along the Delaware River near their hometown of Doylestown, Pa.

Guarini lost the "Idol" crown to Kelly Clarkson in 2002.
