We negotiated a price and I borrowed a friend's pickup to haul the engine, trans, rear end, steering column and gearbox, radiator, heater and a set of two-inch dropped Fatman spindles home. The bonus was that the '52 flathead had slightly higher compression heads, giving me a whopping 110-horsepower engine, as opposed to the 100-horsepower motor offered in 1949. Some degreaser and a fresh orange paint made thing look a little less "rustic."
