East used a 10-point surge in the third quarter to beat Southeast 45-35 on Friday night in a City League girls basketball game at East.
The Aces trailed 15-13 at halftime before outscoring Southeast 18-8 in the third quarter. LayLay Reed fueled the run, scoring six points in the third. She scored eight points overall, trailing Tori Spann and Ceyaira Washington, who each scored 10, for the team high.
Desiree Jones led Southeast with nine points, while Moriah Plowden and Jamisha Bonner each notched double-digit rebounding totals.
