Northwest has hired Ann Burgett as its volleyball coach, lifting the interim label after Burgett finished out this past season following Craig Smith’s resignation during the season.
Burgett took over at the start of October and led the Grizzlies back to the Class 6A tournament for the sixth time in the last eight seasons. After a 19-8 start by Smith, Northwest finished the season 28-16.
“Ann returned to coaching at Northwest last year as our JV volleyball coach and then stepped in as interim head coach,” Northwest athletic director Lance Deckinger said. “She had coached volleyball and softball for 10 years at Northwest in the 80s and 90s and club volleyball following that. Ann has more than 31 years of teaching and coaching experience and we look forweard to her leading our program.”
