West High won its first boys game of the season, getting 30 points from Caleb Moore in a 64-63 victory over Larned in the first round of the St. John tournament.
Moore made 6 of 8 three-point shots and 9 of 15 overall, also making 6 of 7 free throws to lead the Pioneers. Teammate Terrell Rodriguez had 17 points and six rebounds.
A Larned three-pointer tied the score with 30 seconds left. West went ahead on a free throw with 3.7 seconds to play by Javon Reed – his only point, and Larned missed a game-winning shot at the buzzer.
West (1-9) meets Ness City in Friday’s semifinals.

Other boys games
Northwest 63, Garden City 60 — At Valley Center, Nick Williams made 16 of 18 free throws and scored 20 points to lead the Grizzlies. Williams hit 11 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter. K’Veion Richard added 13 for Northwest, who will face Kansas City Turner in the semifinals. Turner upset top see Blue Valley Northwest.
Andover Central 51, Chanute 39 – At Chanute, Cole Taylor scored 23 points and Isaac Anthemides had 11 in the Jaguars’ first-round win. Chanute was held to two first-quarter points. Andover Central leading scorer Darraja Parnell scored two points and didn’t play much because of a heel problem.
Maize South 56, Seaman 53 — Payten Ricks scored 16 points, Alex Martin scored 13 and Cole Koster had 12 for Maize South, which advanced to the semifinals in Calley Center.
Valley Center 65, Ulysses 44 – A 24-point first quarter helped the host Hornets move into the semifinals. Carson Lee had 18 to lead Valley Center.
Andover 61, Buhler 55 – Andover took control of a Salina tourney first-round game by outscoring Buhler 13-5 in the third period. Austin Brown had 16 to lead the Trojans into the semifinals, while Shawn Davis had 18 to lead Buhler.
Olathe North 69, Goddard 33 – Olathe North scored 27 first-quarter points and cruised to a first-round win at the Chanute tournament. Freshman Bryant Mocaby led Goddard with 14 points.
Clearwater 56, Conway Springs 48 – Collin Neises scored 15 points and Hunter Hall had 14 in the Indians’ victory in the Chaparral first round. Nick Barkley, Matthew Leddy and Dylan Murphy had 11 each for Conway.
Rose Hill 55, Halstead 52 – After scoring four first-quarter points, Rose Hill rallied for 27 fourth-quarter points to be host Halstead in a losers bracket game. Alek Santo led the Rockets with 20 poitns and Parker Austin had 13, while Tate Kaufman and Trevor Thomas had 15 each for Halstead.
Spring Hill 62, Eisenhower 43 – Matt Pile had 14 points in Eisenhower’s losers bracket loss to host Spring Hill. The Tigers will play for seventh place on Friday.
Andover 38, Salina South 25 – Jaylyn Agnew scored 14 points to lead the visiting Trojans into the semifinals of the Salina Invitational.
