Two Kansans earned All-American honors during the second day of the NCAA outdoor championships Thursday in Des Moines.
Jermy Postin, a Florida sophomore from Andover, placed eighth in the men's hammer throw, while Kansas' Heather Bergmann, a sophomore from Concordia, was seventh in the women's javelin.
Postin's first throw of the competition was his best, 217 fet, 2 inches. Alexander Ziegler of Virginia Tech won with a throw of 238-6.
"It's nice to be an All-American even though my technique was not that good today," Postin said. "I'm lucky I was able to get a good throw early and it held up."
Never miss a local story.
Bergmann's best throw in the javelin was 161-2. Oklahoma's Brittany Borman won the event at 178-2.
