The rain has already created havoc in regionals.
The Class 4A regional softball semifinals and championship at Mulvane has been postponed until Friday at the same time. The 4A regional baseball semis and championship at Circle has been postponed to Friday, as well.
It’s likely that 6A softball tonight at Two Rivers Youth Club will be postponed, as well.
If you know of any postponements, please feel free to add them here.
I talked to Fran Martin at the KSHSAA, and she said that the goal is to have regional games done by Thursday. The hope now is to get them in by Friday, but Saturday is an option in case of bad weather, and Sunday is not out of the question, she said.
There’s always the issue of graduation for schools to deal with, too.
I always hoped that schools would get their regionals done as quickly as possible, Monday or Tuesday, maybe Wednesday.
I remember well covering the Maize baseball regional that ended at about 3:30 a.m. Yep. There was a rain delay and there were long games, and they just kept playing them to get them in. There was a handful of us sitting there watching. We deserved a medal.
