ANDOVER — The Andover football team has many offensive a lot of different weapons on offense. Most every one was used in a And against Andover Central they used just about every one of them. With a pretty balanced offensive attack, the Trojans defeated the Jaguars 37-12 victory over Andover Central on Friday night at Andover District Stadium.
Andover had 320 yards of offense —221 yards rushing and 99 97 yards passing — of total offense as seven different players had one or more rushing attempts and six different Trojans had receptions.
“We have a lot of talented kids and we try to use them,” Andover coach Mike Lee Andover coach said. “Everyone did a good job of making plays and that makes it easier on the offense.”
Andover had few problems finding the end zone, scoring on five times on its seven possessions.
Never miss a local story.
Ben Croitoruspck led the Trojans (2-1, 1-1 in AV-—CTL III) with 22 carries for 140 yards and two scores. His first touchdown, from one 1 yard out, ended capped off a 14-play, 65-yard drive. His second touchdown was a 22-yard run that finished a seven-play, 55-yard drive.
“Our run game was on tonight, for sure,” Croitoru said. “Our line blocked great, I had plenty of room to run.”
The Jaguars (0-3, 0-1) scored with 11 seconds left in the first half on a leaping grab by Tim Rockettspck from Landon Huslig from 11 yards out on a fourth-and-9 play from the Andover 11.
Andover Central however, couldn’t carry over the momentum into the second half as Andover broke the game open with back-to-back scores. The Jaguars had only one possession that was a went three-and-out, but could never string together enough plays to find their rhythm.
“We bounced back from them scoring early, but then we lost it and that’s frustrating,” Andover Central coach Tom Audley, Andover Central coach said. “We’ve had problems finishing drives all year. We don’t have all the pieces figured out yet.”
It’s This is the second consecutive win for the Trojans over Andover Central. Andover won 26-22 last year, ending the Jaguars’ six-year winning streak.
“This is the biggest game of the year for us because to the kids, this is the game they look forward to the most,” Lee said. “This game means so much to the school and to the community. Tonight we found out our kids really believe in themselves.”
