At 2-0 what are the chances the Chiefs make the playoffs?
Winning their first two games gives the Chiefs a much better chance than losing their first two, but it's far from a lock that they'll be playing a postseason game.
Since the schedule expanded to 16 games in 1978, 241 teams have started the season 2-0; 157 of them have reached the playoffs for a 65 percent rate.
In recent years, however, that percentage has been dropping. Only five of the nine teams made it in 2009. The year before: 5 of 10.
Teams that start 0-2 are not necessarily done for, although the odds are stacked against them.
Since the NFL expanded to 12 playoff teams in 1990, 22 teams have started 0-2 and still made the playoffs.
That averages out to slightly more than one a season. None of the 0-2 teams made the 2009 playoffs, but twice _ in 1998 and 2008 _ three 0-2 squads made the postseason.
Three teams won the Super Bowl after 0-2 starts: the 1993 Cowboys, the 2001 Patriots and the 2007 Giants.
Mostly, it's just too early to tell much of anything. Since 2002, 55 of the 96 playoff teams began the year with at least one loss in their first two games.
