The Wichita State women won their fifth straight Missouri Valley Conference cross country title on Saturday.
Three Shockers finished in the top six, led by Tonya Nero's third-place finish in the 5-kilometer-meter race in Peoria, Ill.
Nero's time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds was followed by teammate Irene Kosgei (18:54) in fourth. Leah Thompson (18:57) finished sixth.
The WSU men placed seventh, their lowest finish since the 1999 team finished eighth. Marius Sava led the Shockers with a time of 27:37 in the 8-kilometer race.
WSU's streak of five women's championships is the longest in conference history. It brings WSU's total to 10 titles, also tops in the MVC.
