Euphagus cyanocephalus

One of four species of black birds in Kansas, Brewer’s black birds are common fall and winter residents migrating in primarily from northern prairies.

Unlike redwings and the others, Brewer’s are pretty conditioned to being around people. They’re also known to make themselves right at home in farm yards, too, and sometimes drive chickens away so they can eat the poultry’s food.
