Wingnuts beat Rockland for sixth straight win

An eighth-inning comeback led the Wingnuts to their sixth straight victory Tuesday.

Wichita scored four times in the inning, overcoming Rockland’s early 4-1 lead for a 7-5 win in Pomona, N.Y. Rockland is a member of the Can-Am League.

After hits by Abel Nieves and Madison Beaird, Cole Armstron’s pinch-hit single drove in a run to tie the game. Jared McDonald singled to load the bases, Ryan Khoury was hit by a pitch to force in a run, and John Rodriguez’s single made it a three-run lead.

Josh Dew got his 19th save with a clean ninth inning. Nick Walters pitched the seventh inning for the victory.

Nieves had two hits to raise his batting average to .358, while Rodriguez had three hits to raise his to .338.
