If the Wichita Wild forgot the big-play ability of its former quarterback, Dixie Wooten, there was a reminder in the first quarter of their Indoor Football League opener Monday night in Grand Island, Neb.

Wooten threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in the first quarter as his Nebraska Danger defeated the Wild 70-59 in both teams' first game.

The Wild was outscored 20-0 in the first quarter and never caught Nebraska, failing to come within one score in the second half.

Wooten completed 13 of 21 passes for 125 yards and five touchdowns, though he was intercepted three times.

Alex Rouse, making his debut as the Wild's starter, completed 8 of 24 passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns, but he was intercepted twice.

Wichita outgained Nebraska in yardage 257-209.

Darius Fudge gained 61 yards on nine Wichita carries. Newcomer Jake Sharp, a former Kansas running back now playing receiver, had one catch for 18 yards.

The Wild plays its home opener Saturday night against Green Bay at Park City's Hartman Arena.
