Matt Robinson scored two goals and the Thunder beat Allen for the second consecutive, winning 4-2 on Saturday in Allen, Texas.
Thunder goalie Taylor Nelson faced 24 shots in the first period — and stopped 23 of them.
Robinson’s goal at 16:38 of the second period put Wichita ahead 2-1, its first lead of the game. The score came less than a minute after Mike Wilson got Wichita on the board.
The Americans pulled even with a goal in the final minute of the second period, but Eric Lizon’s score at 10:57 of the third put the Thunder ahead 3-2. Robinson’s second goal at 17:32 made it a two-goal margin.
Wilson had two assists in addition to his goal.
The Thunder won its third straight. Wichita remains in ninth place in the CHL standings, but is only five points out of fifth. The top eight teams make the CHL playoffs.
