Thunder lets lead slip away in third period

Denver scored the game’s final three goals and beat the Wichita Thunder 6-4 on Friday night in Denver.
The Thunder took a 4-3 lead on Andrew Martens’ power-play goal at 1:42 of the third period. Denver tied the scored at 3:11 on a goal by A.J. Gale, then took the lead less than four minutes later when Michael Schumacher scored.
Jason Wilson scored two power-play goals for the Thunder. He had the game’s first goal at 4:55 of the first period. Denver then took a 3-1 lead with a goal late in the first period and two goals in the first 2:23 of the second period.
Matt Robinson cut the lead to 3-2 at 11:08 of the second period, and Wilson’s second goal came at 12:37 of the second and tied the score 3-3.
The Thunder and Cutthroats play again Saturday in Denver.
