Thunder ends regular season on three-game losing streak

The Thunder had the Central Hockey League’s best record this season, so a three-game losing streak heading into the playoffs probably isn’t a big deal.

The Thunder had the Central Hockey League’s best record this season, so a three-game losing streak heading into the playoffs probably isn’t a big deal.

With nothing riding on the games, Wichita dropped its third straight Sunday, falling 3-1 at Allen in a game that featured only 14 penalty minutes.

The Thunder (44-19-3) begins the playoffs at home Friday and Sunday against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

Allen led 1-0 in the first period when Keith Johnson put in a rebound of a shot by Mark Nebus. The lead went to 2-0 on Nebus’ second-period goal before the Thunder’s Thomas Beauregard scored on a power play with 3:28 to go in the period.

Tyler Ludwig put the Thunder away with a third-period goal.
