Thunder goalie Bryan Hogan turned back 39 shots as Wichita beat Rapid City 3-1 on Saturday night in Rapid City, S.D.
Matt Summers scored a first-period goal to put the Thunder on top 1-0. Matt Robinson added a second-period goal.
The Rush made it 2-1 at 3:48 of the third period when Les Reaney scored. But Rapid City was unable to get a tying goal, and Robinson salted the game away with an empty-net scored with 10 seconds left in the game.
The victory gave the Thunder a split of the two-game series at Rapid City. The teams play again Wednesday in Wichita.
The Thunder holds a seven-point lead over Allen in the Berry Conference with eight games left in the regular season. Both teams have qualified for the playoffs.
