The Thunder finalized its opening-night roster Thursday by releasing goaltender Mark Sibbald. Nineteen players remain with the club, which will suit up 18 for the first game tonight in Tulsa.
Wichita plays host to Tulsa at 7:05 Saturday night in the home opener at Intrust Bank Arena.
First-year coach Kevin McClelland has selected defenseman Daniel Tetrault as team captain, with forwards Lance Galbraith and Matt Huabbauer alternate captains.
"I'm going with (Tetrault), who I'm very familiar with," McClelland said. "I tried recruiting him in Mississippi and I like the way he carries himself. One of my main focuses in camp was to see how guys handle themselves around the other guys, so it was an easy decision to make him captain of our hockey club."
Never miss a local story.
Tetrault played with the Thunder from 2005-08, then was with the International Hockey League's Port Huron Icehawks the last two seasons.
