Goaltender Ian Keserich, one of only four players returning from last year's team, will start when the revamped Wichita Thunder plays host to the Tulsa Oilers in an exhibition game tonight at the Wichita Ice Center.
New coach Kevin McClelland said Keserich has impressed during the first week of training camp.
"He's looked good, really good," McClelland said. "He's a guy who tries on every shot. All the goalies have played good, really. It will be a tough decision."
Keserich will play the first half of the game before giving way to newcomer Mark Sibbald, McClelland said.
Speedy Jesse Bennefield, a Central Hockey League all star with Rio Grande Valley last season, is expected to play on a line with Bobby Hughes and Chris Falloon in tonight's game.
Matt Hubbauer will center a line with Lance Galbraith and veteran Brent Cullaton, McClelland said.
Garett Cameron, Chris Greene and Peter Stevens/Ryan Hand are expected to form another line.
"We'll try some different combinations to see who plays well together and see what chemistry we can spark up," McClelland said.
Defensive pairings are expected to be Andrew Martens-Kory Scoran, Travis Wight-Daniel Tetrault, and Jason Woll-Jason Goulet.
Note — Players will appear at Emerson Biggin's West at 21st and Maize following the game.
