The Wings held league-leading Milwaukee to three goals on Friday night, but couldn’t find enough offense of their own to make it pay off, losing to the Wave 6-3 in Milwaukee.
The Wave did all its scoring in the first half. Marco Terminesi assisted on two first-quarter goals, then scored in the second quarter to make it 6-0.
The Wings finally got on the scoreboard with just more than two minutes left in the game when Angel Rivello hit a three-point goal with an assist from Victor Quiroz. Rivello was playing his first game with Wichita.
Milwaukee, which has already clinched a playoff berth, improved to 16-2. The Wings fell to 7-11. Each team has six games left in the season.
Friday was the third time this season the Wave, the highest-scoring team in the league, had been held under 10 points. Wichita has done it twice, but has lost both times.
The Wings return to action next Saturday against Rocheter at Hartman Arena.
