Cannons reach NBC Midwest Regional final

Dylan Stockton threw a seven-hit shutout to help the Kansas Cannons beat the Haysville Heat 2-0 Tuesday and earn a spot in the NBC Midwest Regional championships game.

The Cannons are the last unbeaten team in the tournament.

The Cannons did all their scoring the bottom of the first, when Kyle Johnston’s two-out double drove in Ty Kildow and Tory Stoffregen. Heat starting pitcher Matt Sergey went eight innings and struck out nine.

Haysville will play El Dorado at 5 p.m. today. The winner of that game will play the Cannons at 8 p.m.

El Dorado 6, Hutchinson 0 — In the day’s first game, the Broncos’ Josh Stone pitched a one-hitter and struck out 11 Monarchs.

Park City 9, Newton 7— Park City broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the fifth and added three more in the seventh to knock out the Rebels. Clayton Garland had three hits and scored three runs for the Rangers.

El Dorado 10, Park City 1— In the day’s final game, the Bronoces scored eight runs in the first three innings. Tyler Coughenour had a two-run double in the first. Thomas Henk had three hits, including a solo homer. Noah Smallwood pitched a complete game.
