Gutierrez's brace helps River Plate rout Godoy Cruz

Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Teofilo Gutierrez scored on either side of the intermission on Sunday as defending champions River Plate cruised to a comfortable 4-0 rout of Godoy Cruz at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas.
River Plate wasted little time taking the lead as Carlos Sanchez opened the scoring for the champions after just two minutes and Gutierrez doubled the lead two minutes later.
Rodrigo Mora made it 3-0 after 16 minutes and Gutierrez completed the rout with his second goal of the contest just past the hour mark to send River Plate home with an easy three points.
The result lifts River Plate to second place in the Argentine top flight with seven points from their first three matches, while Godoy Cruz remains on four points.
Elsewhere in Argentina on Sunday, newly-promoted Banfield earned a 2-0 victory over San Lorenzo behind goals from Santiago Salcedo and Juan Cazares, while Lanus came away with a 2-1 result over Estudiantes.
Defensa y Justicia and Quilmes played to a 1-1 stalemate, while Atletico Rafaela rolled to a 3-0 win over Boca Juniors.
On Saturday, Rosario Central claimed a 2-1 win over Gimnasia La Plata, while Newell's Old Boys and Belgrano played to a thrilling 3-3 draw. Saturday's final fixture saw Velez Sarsfield roll to a 4-0 rout of Independente.
Friday's action saw Tigre rout Racing, 4-0, while Arsenal slipped past Olimpo by a 1-0 score line.
