Wichita's Prairie Fire Marathon needs volunteers.
Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission president Bob Hanson said organizers need about 150 more volunteers to help with traffic control, setting up staging areas, handing out food and water and other tasks.
The marathon begins at 7 a.m., Sunday, with a 5-kilometer race and fun run and walk following. The marathon begins and ends at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Wichita. The course takes runners through downtown, College Hill, Eastborough, Old Town, Riverside, Old Cowtown and across the Arkansas River.
Around 2,300 people have signed up to run.
Never miss a local story.
The Prairie Fire Marathon will contribute $20, up to $3,000, to the Carl Hall Family Fund for each adult volunteer who designates themselves as a Carl Hall volunteer. Hall is the former Wichita State baseball player who was paralyzed in a car accident in June.
Training sessions are scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wichita Boathouse.
