Hometown Sports Achievers

Pray and Play won the eighth-grade boys division of the Jayhawk Invitational on May 2 in Shawnee. Wichita-area players are Steven Young, Roman Young, Brae Ellis, Cameron Ellis, Dammon Johnson, Ealy Bell, Daniel Southworth, Matt Morris, Jezel Parra and Jesse Wilkins. Coaches are Cortland Carney and Donnie Wilkins.

    Hernandez Boxing Academy was reopened on Thursday morning, Sept. 21, 2017, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The gym was gutted by fire November 2016.
