The Chiefs’ Nov. 17 game at Denver falls on the first weekend of flex scheduling, but neither that game, nor the Broncos’ visit to Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 1, will be moved from afternoon kickoffs to prime time.
CBS has protected both telecasts, keeping them from NBC’s “Sunday Night Football”, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Nov. 17 game at Denver will kick off at 3:05 Central time. While the Dec. 1 game at Arrowhead is scheduled for noon, that’s a CBS doubleheader day, and if the game has AFC West implications, it could be moved to 3:25, where CBS now has New England at Houston scheduled.
Perhaps the Chiefs’ best shot at a Sunday night game could come in the season finale at San Diego on Dec. 29. The NFL and NBC purposely do not schedule a game for that time slot and wait to see which game means the most in the playoff picture.
