Katie Swan, 15, lost to Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia in the Australian Open junior girls’ final early Saturday 6-1, 6-4 in Melbourne.
Swan, a 15-year-old who competes for Great Britain but is based out of Wichita, was the No. 14 seed in the tournament. She previously knocked off the top seed in the quarterfinals.

Swan was badly hampered by muscle cramps in the third set of her 2 hour, 36-minute semifinal match on Friday when she beat Hungary’s Dalma Galfi 0-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
After dropping the first set 6-0, Swan trailed 4-2 and 5-4 in the second set before rallying for the win. She faced three match points from Galfi in the second set.
“I went down pretty fast in the first set and I just had to stay strong mentally, every point counted,” Swan told BBC after the semifinal.
“I was struggling with moving and I took some salt, which helped a lot.”
