McPherson junior quarterback Ty Matthews has made an oral commitment to play football at TCU.
TCU coach Gary Patterson offered Matthews a scholarship on Saturday when Matthews was visiting TCU. Later that day, Matthews made his oral commitment.
"It's the family feel, the coaches," Matthews said. "It just feels real comfortable down there. It's a lot of things. The football program, the education and it's not that far down the road, which is a good thing for me."
Matthews was first told about the upcoming offer last week.
Matthews, who transferred from Goddard to McPherson after his sophomore year, threw for 2,700 yards, had a .740 completion percentage, threw for 30 touchdowns and only three touchdowns during the 2010 season.
