Meisch, a junior, has qualified for state the past two seasons. As a freshman, she took seventh in Class 4A and helped lead the Trojans to second place. She has won two tournaments this season, including at Derby on Monday. She will play in Andover's regional golf tournament at Auburn Hills.
Have you always played sports?
"If it wasn't me playing, I'd be watching my older brother (Luke) and tagging along to his practices and stuff.... I liked tagging along and shooting baskets on the side."
You also play basketball for Andover, but what do you like about golf?
"It's just such a relaxed sport. How well you do is up to you and no one else can factor into that. It's nice just to have the responsibility on yourself. At the end of the day, it's nice to have a team, as well.... If a single player struggles, several other players possibly can balance it out."
Which ranks higher? Basketball or golf?
"That's a difficult question. They both have so many different aspects to them that make them enjoyable. Basketball, it's adrenaline, but you have that team that you rely on. And in golf, it's laid back and you take your time."
You have a 4.0 GPA, what kind of career are you interested in?
"It's kind of a big question mark. I've been involved in sports my whole life, so the medical field, physical therapy or something along those lines. I'm really kind of just searching and seeing what would really interest me. I definitely don't want to sit in an office for eight hours."
What do you do outside of sports and school?
"I play a pretty big part in our youth group (at Countryside Christian Church).... There's a leadership team with some students and adults. We have different ministries in it. I'm part of letting the students know the positive types of media — music and movies. I believe media can have a big positive or negative impact."
