Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Kaymer carded a 3-under 69 on Friday to remain atop the leaderboard after two rounds of the Players Championship.
Kaymer was five shots clear when he walked off the course, but Jordan Spieth closed that gap. Kaymer ended 36 holes at 12-under-par 132.
Spieth, who played in the afternoon wave, fired a 6-under 66, the low round of the day, to move into second place at minus-11.
Russell Henley managed a 71 in round two and sits alone in third at 8-under- par 136 on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.
Jim Furyk shot 4-under 68 to move into a share of fourth place at 6-under 138. He was joined there by 2008 champion Sergio Garcia, reigning U.S. Open champ Justin Rose, Lee Westwood and Gary Woodland, who all shot 71 on Friday.
Former champions Adam Scott (67) and K.J. Choi (70) made the cut on the number at even-par 144.
Phil Mickelson, who doesn't have a top-10 finish on the PGA Tour all season, missed the cut by a stroke as did for PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley.
